600 acres of forest for outdoor recreation

The Seeley Hills Recreation Area includes Sawyer County Forest property and the Urenholdt Memorial Demonstration Forest. The silent sports trail system was initially developed in the 1990’s by the Seeley Ski Club in partnership with Sawyer County Forestry and Wisconsin to provide an area for outdoor recreation, including skiing, mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and hunting. Today, the trails are maintained by the Seeley Hills Club (501)(c)(3). Additionally, fat bike trails for winter use are maintained by CAMBA (Cable Area Mountain Bike Association). The SHC appreciates and works in partnership with Seeley Lions Club and the Town of Lenroot. Uhrenholdt Forest is now maintained by the club. Experience century old majestic white pines on these mostly level trails. See history of Uhrenholdt below.

The purpose of the SHRC is to maintain year-round trails for non-motorized use that are family and dog friendly on the Seeley Hills Recreation land.

The objective of the club is to develop, maintain and preserve the Seeley Hills non-motorized trail system and to promote a sustainable mixed growth forest for future generations.

Volunteers for Seeley Hills Recreation Club spend over 150 hours a year maintaining the trails. We love our trails and encourage everyone and their dogs to enjoy them also! Please consider giving a donation. Use the QR code below, or the donation box at the warming house or at:

‍ ‍4-6-2026

Ski trails were last groomed 3-20-2026, surface today, April 6, was solid in the morning when temperatures are below freezing, but you may punch through to slush in spots. Still great fat bike riding at those low temperatures. Surface gets very soft at warmer temperatures and difficult to walk, bike or ski on.

Dog-friendly Outdoor Recreation

All the trails in the Seeley Hills Recreation area are open to dogs, including the groomed ski trails during the winter. Dogs must be under control at all times.
